Say hello to our new brand

Say hello to our new brand

Today, we launch the next evolution of Starshipit, and it’s not just about a shiny new colour palette (although we’re in love with it!). As we evolve as a business it’s important to us that we continue to keep our customers front and centre.

Developing a rebrand isn’t a small undertaking, we brought in help from some industry experts to help us ensure we created a new identity that fits with who we are – and where we’re going.

This rebranding is a new direction for Starshipit visually and a rethink of how we present ourselves to the world. To that end, you’ll see small design changes pop up in the app, across our website, social channels (which you should follow) and more.

We’ve also released a new UI for the Starshipit app. UI 2.0 makes your shipping and fulfilment even more efficient. You can now make direct edits to the orders grid and add custom labels to your orders (more on that below).

Why we made this change

  • We wanted a brand that communicated our mission – We’re the best practice shipping and fulfilment platform that helps retailers save time and deliver great shipping experiences, and it was important to us that our brand reflects this.
  • We’d experienced a lot of change and grown at a rapid pace – Our previous brand had grown organically since the day we started. However, we’ve grown and matured, and we decided we needed a brand identity that could grow with us.
  • We’re building a hub for great shipping – Our customers use our product every day to create better shipping experiences. We want to bring these stories to life so we can help all retailers learn about the benefits of shipping automation.
Making our customers our heroes

Making our customers our heroes

A big part of our new brand was to hero our customers and our team who help achieve great things. We worked with fantastic local photographer Reagen Butler to capture some great businesses using Starshipit to deliver great customer experiences.

Hear from the team who made it happen

A brand refresh is a big project, with more than a few moving parts – much like seamless delivery experience. Here’s what the key players had to say about the project.

Caitlin Jackson

"We’ve evolved as a company and we need our brand to reflect who we are now – and where we’re going! This was a massive undertaking from the team (a brand refresh in under 12 months is certainly agile from day dot!) and I’m excited to hear what our partners and retailers think."

Caitlin Jackson, (Head of Marketing)
Simon Pound

"Starshipit are such a great bunch of people. The kind of people to just get on with things and in doing so they’ve built something amazing. It’s been a real pleasure to work with them on a brand and positioning that tells these stories and captures some of the fun and energy and professionalism they bring to everything they do."

George Plummer

"From day one we’ve been all about helping retailers turn shipping from one of the low points of their business and customer experience to one of the best. Our new brand is a better reflection of our product, and how that product simplifies the shipping and fulfilment process for businesses."

George Plummer, CEO
Abi Bennett

"One thing we really wanted to highlight with our brand refresh was our retailers. They’re the people using Starshipit every day to get orders into the hands of their customers, and you’ll now see them featured across our website more prominently."

Revisiting our values

Updating our brand hasn’t changed who we are as a company – our mission or why we do what we do. With that in mind, it’s worth looking at our values in the context of our rebrand.

  • Customer as a compass

    Customer as a compass

Starshipit was built to solve a problem for retailers. As a result, we’ve always used our customers as our guiding light.

  • Agile from day dot

    Agile from day dot

We’re always listening to the needs of our customers and partners when it comes to product development (it’s how we develop most new features!). We felt like our old brand didn’t do enough to showcase how our retailers and partners have used Starshipit, or their successes.

  • Together is better

    Together is better

We’re a group of people who’ve come together to build something great. Our exponential output has earned us the trust and respect of our customers and partners. We think this new brand is a way to show off our loyal ambassadors – the people we’re doing this for!

The key changes

Here’s a speedy round-up of some of the main changes you'll see around the place – from the main things like our company logo through to the smaller tweaks we’ve applied across our website.

What is Starshipit UI 2.0

Introducing UI 2.0

UI 2.0 is the next evolution of Starshipit. We’ve built new functionality into the Starshipit platform, including tags, a returns portal and more, which will make your shipping and fulfilment even more efficient.

A closer look at the different elements of our new brand

Interested in what goes into a rebrand? Below, we’ve broken down our new logo, colours and type face – and the meanings behind them.

Starshipit is the best practice shipping and fulfilment platform

Our logo

The new logo mark is a bold icon that represents the journey or path a package takes from retailer to customer. The Starshipit logomark combines a star + the letter ‘S’. The design of the logo is based on the new stacked modular shapes you'll see throughout our new brand, and the star represents our North Star – which is delivering great shipping experiences.

Starshipit brand colours: blue, cream and yellow colour combinations

Colour and flexibility

Our new logo is also quite flexible. We can present it using the full range of our brand colours for different events and content. Our primary colours are blue, cream and a yellow accent. Paired together, we want these colours to feel credible and approachable.

Introducing Starshipit brand fonts: Sharp Grotesk and Pitch Sans

Typeface

We’ve chosen Sharp Grotesk and Pitch Sans as the Starshipit brand typefaces. These typefaces have been selected to communicate the key brand concepts of connection, ease and simplicity. Sharp Grotesk from Sharp Type is the Starshipit brand primary typeface. Pitch Sans, from the amazing New Zealand company Klim Type Foundry, is the secondary typeface.

Wrap-up

And that’s our new brand identity in a nutshell! We’re still the same Starshipit, we’ve just got a new look that we think better represents our mission and the retailers we’re building this product for.

From day one, we’ve been on a mission to create the world’s best shipping and fulfilment platform that helps you save time and deliver great shipping experiences. For the most part, this means giving customers a great delivery experience through choice at checkout and allowing them to check where their orders are.

We’ve also tried to make shipping overseas as easy as possible and provide best-in-class support for all our customers, regardless of how many orders they ship.
