When it comes to order fulfilment, efficiency is the name of the game. Every second counts. That’s why we’ve included multiple ways to print orders in Starshipit, including scan to print, auto print and even print from API.
In this guide, we’ll explore these methods in detail, including why you’d want to use them and how to get started. Whether you’re a seasoned Starshipit user or new to our platform, optimising your label printing strategy can elevate your shipping process to new heights of speed and accuracy.
Let’s get started!
From Starshipit’s orders grid, you can print labels directly using the ‘Print’ button or select and print multiple orders together (Bulk print). You can also filter orders by carrier.
If you need to process orders in a specific sequence, for example you’d like to prioritise express orders to stick to your carrier cut-off times.
This is also a good method if you prefer to pick and pack from the orders grid and then print the corresponding label, as you can match up orders and labels more efficiently.
Click into each order you’d like to print individually, and then use the ‘Print and next’ button to move to the next order.
Opening orders before printing is an ideal method when you’d like to see more details when packing your orders. You can use the order details screen as a ‘digital packing slip’ to view carrier details, package information and more.
This is also a great way to make order modifications. For example, if you need to make changes to the packaging or switch carriers, then doing so from the order details page is certainly the quickest method.
Once you’ve made your changes and are ready to print, simply click “Print and next” to print the current order and move to the next order for processing (saving you clicks).
Scan the barcode on a packing slip to automatically generate the associated shipping label for the order.
Scan to print is a useful workflow to help you save time, as you won’t need to manually find or enter order numbers. It’s as simple as printing your packing slip, packing the order, then scanning the packing slip to generate the matching label.
This is also a great method to use for batch processing high volumes of orders, as you can scan multiple packing slips in quick succession.
With this method, you can also use packing validation to scan product barcodes to check whether a product belongs in the order.
Set up the print app to print orders automatically as soon as they come into Starshipit.
By configuring the print app to automatically print labels upon order arrival, you eliminate the need for manual printing, saving you time. This also ensures labels are always printed and ready for processing, avoiding bottlenecks.
Use Starshipit’s API to print labels based on your specific requirements.
Print from API is useful if you need a custom approach to label printing. You can create applications using the Starshipit API to trigger label printing based on different events and conditions. For example, you could print hundreds of orders at once, or automate the process of updating your orders.
This is also useful if you’re using an ERP, IMS or WMS system that’s not integrated with Starshipit. You can instead create a custom API integration to enable label printing directly within your existing platform. Note that many existing platforms offer this feature already (Cin7 Core, Carton Cloud, Viare etc.).
