If you're a Shopify merchant using Stocky to manage your inventory, you've probably already seen the news: Stocky is being discontinued on 31 August 2026.
Here’s what’s happening, what it means for your operations, and the alternatives Shopify merchants are moving to.
Shopify has confirmed that the Stocky app will be fully shut down on 31 August 2026. It's already been removed from the Shopify App Store (as of 2 February 2026), meaning no new merchants can install it. Key features including inventory transfers and min/max forecasting were stripped out back in July 2025, so if you're still using it, you're already working with a reduced version of the tool.
Shopify is consolidating inventory functionality into its native Admin, but for many merchants, those built-in tools don't go far enough. Particularly if you're managing multiple locations, running a warehouse, or need more control over your purchase order workflows.
When Stocky shuts down, the biggest impact is losing the operational workflows many Shopify merchants rely on daily.
For merchants using Stocky as their purchase order and receiving system, the shutdown means:
Shopify’s native tools can handle basic stock tracking, but they don’t replace the operational workflows many merchants built around Stocky.
If you run a warehouse, dispatch from multiple locations, or want more automation in your fulfilment workflows, you'll want a dedicated solution.
Merchants replacing Stocky generally move in one of three directions:
For merchants running their own warehouse, a WMS often replaces both inventory planning and fulfilment workflows in one system.
That's where Starshipit WMS comes in.
We've already had several Stocky merchants who have migrated across to Starshipit WMS, and the transition has been straightforward. Stocky helped retailers manage inventory planning inside Shopify – Starshipit WMS goes further by connecting inventory, warehouse operations, and shipping automation in a single workflow.
The WMS costs a flat $299/month for all subscription tiers, regardless of how much you grow. And, because it sits inside the same platform as your shipping automation and carrier accounts, it removes the need to stitch together multiple tools to run your warehouse.
This is where the biggest difference shows up. Because Starshipit WMS sits alongside Starshipit's shipping automation, the moment a pick is completed, your label fires. No jumping between systems, no manual steps. It's a genuinely connected workflow from inbound stock to order out the door.
One of the hardest things about replacing a free tool like Stocky is that most alternatives charge based on order volume, number of users, or lock features behind higher tiers.
As your business grows, so does your bill. Unlike many WMS platforms that scale pricing with order volume or users, Starshipit WMS uses a flat monthly price.
Starshipit WMS is $299/month flat. That's it. Every feature, no gates, no scaling costs. Whether you're processing 500 orders a month or 5,000, you pay the same. For small and growing businesses that need predictable overheads, that's a meaningful difference.
The deadline might feel like it's a while away, but waiting until the last minute will cost your business. Migrating your suppliers, products, and purchase order history takes time, and running two systems in parallel while you test a new one is the safest way to transition without operational disruption.
Getting started with Starshipit WMS is straightforward. Simply head to Settings > Integrations > Add a new integration and select Starshipit WMS.
